Abstract

El presente sistema se refiere en varias modalidades, a dispositivos, sistemas y métodos para la detección, evaluación y/o monitoreo de la disfunción olfativa, al medir y determinar el umbral de detección olfativa del paciente para las fosas nasales izquierda y derecha. Más específicamente, la presente invención se refiere a dispositivos, sistemas y métodos para detectar una diferencial asimétrica en el umbral de detección olfativa de un paciente (fosa nasal izquierda versus derecha), la cual, cuando está presente, se puede usar como dispositivo para detectar, diagnosticar y/o monitorear el deterioro olfativo que se padece como resultado de ciertos trastornos neurodegenerativos, tales como la enfermedad de Alzheimer.
