Abstract
La presente invención se refiere a sistemas y métodos para la producción de ácido poliacrílico y polímeros superabsorbentes a partir de la oxidación de etileno, para formar óxido de etileno. A la reacción de óxido de etileno con monóxido de carbono para formar beta-propiolactona (BPL) o polipropiolactona (PPL), o una combinación de las mismas. A una salida configurada para proporcionar una corriente de carbonilación que comprende la BPL o PPL, o una combinación de las mismas, y al uso de uno o más reactores para transformar BPL en ácido acrílico o para transformar por lo menos parte de la BPL en PPL, y después transformar la PPL en ácido acrílico. También se proporciona una salida configurada para proporcionar una corriente de PPL a un segundo reactor tm para transformar por lo menos parte de la PPL en AA, o a un tercer reactor para transformar por lo menos parte de la PPL en AA. La salida está configurada para suministrar una corriente de AA a un cuarto reactor, para transformar la AA en ácido poliacrílico.
