Abstract
Un sistema generador de aerosol operado eléctricamente que comprende medios para detectar condiciones adversas, tal como un calentador seco o un tipo de calentador no autorizado. El sistema comprende un calentador eléctrico (30) que comprende al menos un elemento de calentamiento para calentar un sustrato formador de aerosol, un suministro de energía (14), y circuitos eléctricos (16) conectados al calentador eléctrico y al suministro de energía y que comprende una memoria, los circuitos eléctricos (16) configurados para determinar una condición adversa cuando una relación entre una resistencia eléctrica inicial (R1) del calentador (30) y un cambio en la resistencia eléctrica (R2-R1) a partir de la resistencia inicial es mayor que un valor umbral máximo o es menor que un valor umbral mínimo almacenado en la memoria, y para limitar la energía suministrada al calentador eléctrico (30), o para proporcionar una indicación a un usuario, si existe una condición adversa. El sistema tiene el beneficio de que no requiere un valor de resistencia máximo almacenado previamente, y por tanto el sistema es capaz de usar diferentes calentadores y acomodar variaciones de resistencia debido a las tolerancias de fabricación.
