Abstract
Un sistema y método para reducir los artefactos de bloque y proporcionar una eficiencia de codificación mejorada con base, al menos en parte, en la evaluación de la relativa suavidad de las señales en un límite de codificación. En algunas modalidades, puede establecerse una diferencia de umbral de límite más allá de la cual se determina que la diferencia es representativa de un límite natural o previsto y el filtrado puede aplicarse a aquellos límites que tienen diferencias por debajo de la diferencia de umbral de límite.
