Abstract
Se describe un sistema de energía de respaldo para una unidad de energía de ferrocarril que incluye un generador de respaldo de emergencia, que permite la operación continua tanto de motores como de accesorios, en base a la unidad de energía, cuando el generador principal y/o una unidad de energía accesoria (APU) se vuelve inoperable. El generador de respaldo puede proveer energía a accesorios en el carro de ferrocarril cuando la APU se vuelve inoperable y cuando la energía provista por la APU es desviada a los motores de tracción, debido a que el generador principal se vuelve inoperable.
