Abstract

Se describe un método para destoxificar una solución de desecho acuosa que contiene cianuro. El método involucra agregar una fuente de óxido de silicio a la solución de desecho acuosa que contiene cianuro, en una concentración de 0.001 a 10 gramos de dióxido de silicio/litro de solución de desecho acuosa, en un pH alcalino y a una temperatura de 10 a 100°C. Se agrega peróxido de hidrógeno u otro compuesto de peroxígeno en una cantidad suficiente para convertir la solución de desecho acuosa que contiene cianuro, en una solución acuosa que contiene materiales medio-ambientalmente menos tóxicos.
