COMPOUNDS HAVING THE FORMULA IWHERE A REPRESENTS(IN WHICH THE DOTTED LINE REPRESENTS OPTIONAL UNSATURATION, R4 IS HYDROGEN, C1-C6 ALKYL, FORMYL OR C2-C7 ALKANOYL);R1 IS HYDROGEN OR C1-C6 ALKYL;R2 IS C1-C6 ALKYL;R5 AND R6 ARE HYDROGEN OR VARIOUS SUBSTITUENTS;R7 IS HYDROGEN OR C1-C6 ALKYL; ANDN IS 0, 1, 2, 3 OR 4 AND THE PHARMACEUTICALLYACCEPTABLE SALTS ARE CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM ANTIDEPRESSANTS. THEY ARE PREPARED FROM INTERMEDIATES CONTAINING -CONR1R2 WHERE R1 AND R2 ARE INDEPENDENTLY HYDROGEN OR C1-C6 ALKYL -CNOR -CH2NH2 AS PRECURSOR FOR THE -CH2NR1R2 GROUP IN FORMULA I.
