Abstract

IN THE COMPACTING OF DAMP, CORRUGATED FIBROUS CEMENT SLABS (3) A SLAB IS FORMED OR PLACED ON A SUBSTANTIALLY RIGID PERMEABLE PRESSING BASE (5) AND THE TWO TOGETHER PRESSED IN BETWEEN UPPER (2) AND LOWER (1) MATRIX. THE AQUEOUS FILTRATE WHICH IS PRESSED OUT IS REMOVED VIA A CHANNEL SYSTEM (9) ON THE LOWER MATRIX (1) AND IS OPEN TOWARD TO THE PRESSING BASE (5). TO ACHIEVE UNIFORM REMOVAL OF ALL THE FILTRATE FROM THE AREA IMMEDIATELY BENEATH THE PRESSING BASE (5) WITH SIMULTANEOUS PREVENTION OF THE FORMATION OF INCRUSTATIONS IN THE CHANNEL SYSTEM (9), THE CURRENT OF AIR IS DRIVEN THROUGH THE CHANNEL SYSTEM (9) IN THE DIRECTION OF FILTRATE REMOVAL FROM A SOURCE OF POSITIVE AIR PRESSURE (15). THE AIR FLOW ENTRAINS, ACCELERATES AND TRANSPORTS THE AQUEOUS FILTRATE WHICH HAS PERCOLATED THROUGH THE PRESSING BASE (5) INTO THE CHANNEL SYSTEM (9).(FIG. 1)
