Abstract

A DEVICE FOR GRIPPING AN ELECTRIC CABLE, E.G. IN A PLUG, SOCKET OR OTHER APPLIANCE, COMPRISES A U-SHAPED MEMBER (10) OF RESILIENT PLASTICS WITH PARALLEL LIMBS (11) WHICH ARE DEFLECTED APART ON INSERTION OF THE CABLE AND ARE THEN PRESSED AND HELD TOGETHER TO GRIP TIGHTLY THE CABLE (C). THE MEMBER (10) IS RECEIVED IN A SOCKET (21) WHICH MAY HAVE SIDE WALLS WHICH CONVERGE INWARDLY FOR PRESSING TOGETHER THE FREE ENDS OF THE LIMBS (11), OR ALTERNATIVELY A SEPARATE CLIP OR INTEGRAL GATE MAY BE APPLIED TO INTERCONNECT THE FREE ENDS OF THE LIMBS (11) BEFORE THE MEMBER (10) IS INSERTED INTO THE SOCKET.
