Abstract

A LATCHING DEVICE COMPRISING A MOUNTING BASE 10 AND A HANDLE 12 PIVOTALLY COUPLED TO THE BASE, THE HANDLE BEING MOVABLE BETWEEN FIRST AND SECOND POSITIONS. A LATCHING PLATE 15 IS PIVOTALLY MOUNTED TO THE BASE 10 AND MEANS 18, 20 AND 20A ARE PROVIDED FOR MOVING THE LATCHING PLATE, AS THE HANDLE IS MOVE BETWEEN ITS FIRST AND SECOND POSITIONS, SUCH THAT THE LATCHING PLATE MOVES BETWEEN A LATCHING POSITION, WHERE IT PREFERABLY PROJECTS SUBSTANTIALLY OUTWARDLY FROM THE BASE, TO A NON-LATCHING POSITION, WHERE IT PREFERABLY PROJECTS UPWARDLY FROM THE BASE.
