THE PARA-ISOMER OF A DIALKYL-AROMATIC HYDROCARBON IS SEPARATED FROM A MIXTURE WITH AT LEAST ONE OTHER ISOMER OF THE HYDROCARBON BY CONTACTING THE MIXTURE WITH A CRYSTALLINE ALUMINOSILICATE ADSORBENT CONTAINING BARIUM AND POTASSIUM IONS AT EXCHANGEABLE CATION SITES IN A MOLE RATIO CORRESPONDING TO A BAO TO K2O RATIO OF 0.6:1 TO 1.2:1 AT ADSORPTION CONDITIONS SELECTED TO EFFECT ADSORPTION OF SAID PARA-ISOMER AND THEREAFTER CONTACTING THE PARA-ISOMER CONTAINING ADSORBENT WITH A DESORBENT MATERIAL SELECTED FROM MONOFLUROAROMATICS, DIFLUOROAROMATICS OR MIXTURES THEREOF AT DESORPTION CONDITIONS SELECTED TO EFFECT RECOVERY OF SAID PARA-ISOMERS.
