Abstract

A CAP- LIKE NATURAL LATEX LID 2 FOR A BEVERAGE CUP OR THE LIKE INCLUDES A TOP 21, A PERIPHERAL FLANGE 22 TURNING DOWNWARD FROM THE TOP, AND A ROLLED RIM 23 AROUND THE PERIPHERAL FLANGE. A STRAW OPENING 3 IS FORMED IN THE TOP 21 WITH A THICKENED MARGINAL EDGE 31 THEREAROUND, AND A THICKENED REINFORCING RING 32 PROVIDED IN THE TOP AROUND THE THICKENED MARGINAL EDGE. THE AREA 33 BETWEEN THE THICKENED MARGINAL EDGE 31 AND THE REINFORCING RING 32 IS THINNER THAN THE REMAINING PORTION OF THE LID. THE STRAW OPENING FACILITATES THE INSERTION OF A STRAW INTO THE CUP TO WHICH THE LATEX LID IS ATTACHED WITHOUT TEARING THE LATEX LID. (FIG. 2)
