Abstract

A HINGED POLE WHEREIN A PIVOTED UPPER SECTION IS SUPPORTED ON A PIVOT PIN, WHICH PIN IS VERTICALLY MOVABLE WITHIN A SUPPORT SLOT IN THE LOWER SUPPORT SECTION OF THE HINGED POLE. LIFTING THE UPPER SECTION RAISES THE PIVOT PIN WHEN A STOP FALLS INTO PLACE BENEATH THE PIN TO PREVENT THE UPPER SECTION FROM RETURNING TO A LOWERED LOCKED POSITION. IN THE RAISED POSITION THE UPPER SECTION IS FREE TO PIVOT AND A RAM MAY BE EMPLOYED FOR BOTH THE INITIAL LIFT AND THE LOWERING.(FIG 3)
