DISCLOSED HEREWITH ARE A RECOMBINANT GENE CODING THE HUMAN ALPHA INTERFERON FOR AN EFFICIENT EXPRESSION THEREOF IN YEAST, HAVING THE NUCLEOTIDE SEQUENCE SHOWN IN FIG. 1A; AN EXPRESSION VECTOR CONTAINING SAID GENE; YEAST CELLS TRANSFECTED WITH SAID EXPRESSION VECTOR; A PROCESS FOR PRODUCTION OF HUMAN ALPHA INTERFERON BY EMPLOYING SAID YEAST TRANSFORMANTS; AND A PROCESS FOR PURIFICATION OF SAID HUMAN ALPHA INTERFERON IN A HIGH YIELD.
