Abstract
THE SUBJECT OF THE INVENTION IS A DEVICE FOR CATALYTICALLY CONVERTING EXHAUST GASES IN AN EXHAUST SYSTEM, ESPECIALLY FOR AN EXHAUST SYSTEM OF AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE, PREFERABLY FOR OTTO ENGINES. THE DEVICE INCLUDES AT LEAST TWO HONEYCOMB BODIES (2, 3), DISPOSED IN AN OUTER JACKET TUBE (1) AND THROUGH WHICH AN EXHAUST GAS (G) CAN FLOW IN SUCCESSION, THE ADJACENT HONEYCOMB BODY (3) BEING JOINED TO ONE ANOTHER BY MEANS OF SUPPORT ELEMENTS <12) PROTRUDING INTO THE HONEYCOMB BODIES <2, 3) .THE HONEYCOMB BODY (2) IS DISPOSED IN SPACED-APART FASHION RELATIVE TO THE OUTER JACKET TUBE (1) AND HAS AT LEAST TWO SHELLS <4, 5) JOINED TO THE JACKET FACE OF THE HONEYCOMB BODY (2), WHICH ARE EACH CONNECTED TO AN ELECTRICAL POWER LEAD (6, 7) .THE DEVICE ALSO HAS ELECTRICALLY INSULATING JOINING ELEMENTS (15), AND EACH JOINING ELEMENT (15) IS JOINED BY ONE END TO THE SHELL (5 OR 4, AS APPLICABLE) AND BY ITS OTHER END TO THE ADJACENT HONEYCOMB BODY (3) .THE OUTER JACKET TUBE IS EMBODIED WITH AT LEAST ONE ENCOMPASSING BEAD <16), WHICH RESTS ON THE JACKET TUBE (14) OF THE ADJACENT HONEYCOMB BODY (3).FIG. 1
