Abstract

A RAIL CAR TRUCK SIDE FRAME (10) FOR USE IN A FRAME BRACE TRUCK WHICH HAS STABILIZING CROSS BRACES (20) EXTENDING BETWEEN THE SIDE FRAMES (10). THE SIDE FRAME (10) HAS A TOP COMPRESSION MEMBER (26) AND A BOTTOM TENSION MEMBER (28) WHICH ARE JOINED BY UPWARDLY AND OUTWARDLY SLANTED END WALLS (30). THERE IS A BRACKET (36) AT THE LOWER END OF EACH END WALL (30) FOR USE IN MOUN TING A CROSS BRACE (20). THE BRACKET INCLUDES FIRST (38), SECOND (58) AND THIRD (64) WALLS, EACH INTEGRAL WITH THE SIDE FRAME (10) AND EACH EXTENDING DOWNWARDLY FROM THE SIDE FRAME (10). THE FIRST WALL (38) FORMS THE WALL FOR ATTACHMENT OF A CROSS BRACE (20) WITH THE SECOND (58) AND THIRD WALLS (64) BEING PERPENDICULAR TO THE FIRST WALL (38)AND FORMING SUPPORT FOR THE FIRST WALL (38).
