Abstract

A SEAL STRUCTURE FOR SEALING A JOINT PORTION OF SEPARATE FIRST AND SECOND MEMBERS (1,2) SUCH AS A CYLINDER BLOCK (2) AND AN OIL PAN (1) OF AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE BY A FLUID SEALANT INTERPOSED BETWEEN JOINING FACES OF THE FIRST AND SECOND MEMBERS (1,2). THE FIRST AND SECOND MEMBERS (1,2) ARE CLAMPED BY CLAMP MEMBERS (5) SUCH AS BOLTS. AT LEAST ONE OF THE FIRST AND SECOND MEMBERS (1,2) HAS A JOINING FACE COMPRISING A RAISED SECTIONS (6) FORMED AROUND EACH OF THE CLAMP MEMBERS (5) AND SEALANT HOLDING SECTION (7) FOR HOLDING THE FLUID SEALANT. THE SEALANT HOLDING SECTION (7) IS FORMED EXTEND OVER WHOLE AREA BETWEEN NEIGHBORING RAISED SECTIONS (6).FIGURE 3
