Abstract

A FORMULATION AND METHOD OF PRODUCING A SHAPED CEMENTITIOUS ARTICLE HAVING EITHER A REDUCED RESPIRABLE SIZE SILICA PARTICLE CONTENT OR A LOW PROPENSITY TO RELEASE AIR BORNE RESPIRABLE SILICA OR BOTH. THE FORMULATION COMPRISES CEMENTITIOUS MATERIAL, A SILICEOUS MATERIAL AND A LOW BULK DENSITY MATERIAL.THE DENSITY OF THE PRODUCT IS PREFERABLY 1.2 G/CM³ OR LESS AND THE LOW BULK DENSITY IS PREFERABLY SUBSTANTIALLY CALCIUM SILICATE HYDRATE. THE APPLICANT HAS FOUND THAT WITH SUCH A DENSITY AND/OR LOW BULK DENSITY MATERIAL IN THE ARTICLE, THE PRODUCT PROVIDES A SUBSTANTIALLY REDUCED AMOUNT OF RESPIRABLE SIZE SILICA WHEN CUT.
