Abstract

IMPROVEMENTS TO A FLUID-SOLID BED PROCESSING SYSTEM USED FOR SORTING OR SEPARATING A MIXTURE OF BULK MATERIAL COMPRISING FINE AND COARSE PARTICLES ARE TAUGHT IN THE PRESENT INVENTION. IT RELATES PARTICULARLY TO TWO PARALLEL BAFFLE PLATES (7) VERTICALLY INSTALLED INSIDE A SEPARATOR OR CLASSIFIER WORK VESSEL (6), AND A METHOD OF DIVIDING AND REDUCING THE FLOW CROSS SECTION IN THE WORK VESSEL (6). THE BULK MATERIAL IS INTRODUCED FROM A RESERVOIR HOPPER (1) DISPOSED AT THE TOP OF THE WORK VESSEL (6) TO FORM A PACKED FLUID-SOLID BED IN THE WORK VESSEL (6) DURING OPERATION. A CIRCULATING MEANS (NO SHOWN) CIRCULATES A COUNTER CURRENT FLUID FLOW TO SEPARATE THE COARSE AND FINE PARTICLES IN THE BULK MATERIAL. THE COARSE PARTICLES ARE COLLECTED AT THE BASE OF THE WORK VESSEL (6) THROUGH A BOTTOM EXIT PORT (8), WHEREAS THE FINE PARTICLES ARE COLLECTED AT THE TOP OF THE WORK VESSEL (6) THROUGH A CYCLONE (13).(FIG 1)
