IN AN AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM FOR VEHICLES COMPRISING AN AIR DUCT WHICH HAS A PLURALITY OF AIR DISCHARGE PORTS FOR RESPECTIVE AIR CONDITIONING MODES, THE OPENING/CLOSING OPERATIONS OF THE RESPECTIVE AIR DISCHARGE PORTS ARE CONTROLLED BY USING A PLATE-LIKE MEMBER, WHICH IS MOVABLE IN ITS LONGITUDINAL DIRECTION AND HAS A FLEXIBILITY IN ITS LONGITUDINAL DIRECTION AND A RIGIDITY IN ITS TRANSVERSE DIRECTION, A PLURALITY OF OPENINGS FOR OPENING/CLOSING THE RESPECTIVE AIR DISCHARGE PORTS ARE PROVIDED ON THE PLATE-LIKE MEMBER, AND TWO OR MORE OPENINGS ARE ARRANGED IN THE TRANSVERSE DIRECTION OF THE PLATE-LIKE MEMBER. THE DESIGN FREEDOM OF THE AIR DISCHARGE PORT CONTROL MECHANISM CAN BE GREATLY INCREASED, AND THE MECHANISM CAN BE MADE SMALL-SIZED , ULTIMATELY THE WHOLE OF THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM CAN BE MADE SMALL-SIZED.(FIG 2)
