Abstract
THE PRESENT INVENTION RELATES GENERALLY TO A METHOD FOR TRANSFORMING PLANT CELLS WITH GENETIC MATERIAL AND TO PLANTS AND PLANTLETS REGENERATED FROM TRANSFORMED PLANT CELLS. THE PRESENT INVENTION FURTHER RELATES TO PROGENY AND REPRODUCTIVE MATERIAL, INCLUDING POLLEN, SEEDS AND PROPAGATING TISSUE, FROM PLANTS AND PLANTLETS REGENERATED FROM TRANSFORMED PLANT CELLS. THE PRESENT INVENTION FURTHER PROVIDES CALLUS, EXPLANT AND OTHER PLANT TISSUE FROM REGENERATED PLANTS. THE PRESENT INVENTION PROVIDES THE MEANS TO GENETICALLY MODIFY PLANTS AND IN PARTICULAR MONOCOTYLEDONOUS PLANTS AND EVEN MORE PARTICULARLY PINEAPPLE PLANTS AND RELATED SPECIES.(FIG 1)
