Abstract
CONVENTIONAL METHODS FOR DETERMINING PROPORTION OF SOAP CONSTITUENT THEREIN, SPECIFICALLY IN FRESH NATURAL RUBBER, ARE COMPLICATED, TIME CONSUMING AND REQUIRE A MANY INSTRUMENTS. ONE SUCH CONVENTIONAL METHOD IS THE COLD EXTRACTION TECHNIQUE. THE COLD EXTRACTION TECHNIQUE USES A BUFFER SOLUTION FOR SOAP CONSTITUENT EXTRACTION UNDER A PREDETERMINED TEMPERATURE. HOWEVER, THE SOAP CONSTITUENT EXTRACTION ALONE MAY TAKE UP TO A DAY TO PERFORM. ADDITIONALLY, USE OF CHEMICAL ADDITIVES WITH NATURAL RUBBER ALWAYS RESULTS IN COAGULATION OF THE NATURAL RUBBER WHICH DETERS THE ANALYSIS OF SOAP CONSTITUENTS THEREIN. AN EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION DISCLOSES A SUBSTANTIALLY UNCOMPLICATED AND RELIABLE METHOD COMPRISING INITIAL STEPS FOR PROCESSING A LATEX SAMPLE TO PREVENT COAGULATION THEREOF AND SUBSEQUENT CONDUCTOMETRIC TITRATION STEPS FOR EVENTUALLY DETERMINING THE PROPORTION OF SOAP CONSTITUENT IN THE LATEX SAMPLE.
