Abstract
THE PRESENT INVENTION PROVIDES A FILM COMPOSITION COMPRISING OF BETWEEN 1% AND 5% BY WEIGHT OF STARCH, BETWEEN 1% AND 5% BY WEIGHT OF POLYVINYL ALCOHOL AND BETWEEN 1% AND 30% BY WEIGHT OF PLASTICIZER. A HYDROGEL IS PRODUCED BY FORMING AN AQUEOUS SOLUTION FROM THE COMPOSITION AND EXPOSING IT TO ELECTRON BEAM OR GAMMA RADIATION TO A TOTAL ABSORBED DOSE WITHIN THE RANGE OF FROM 5 KGY TO 50 KGY. THE FILM OF THE PRESENT INVENTION IS EXCELLENT IN ELASTICITY AND FLEXIBILITY, AND MOREOVER IN DEGRADABLE PROPERTY, THAT MAKE IT SUITABLE FOR USE AS A MATERIAL FOR PACKAGING AND WRAPPING USES.
