A CONVEYOR BELT (1) FOR A PLATING SYSTEM COMPRISES A PLURALITY OF CLAMPING FINGERS (2) PIVOTALLY MOUNTED ON THE BELT (1) SO THAT A FREE CLAMPING END (3) ABUTS THE BELT (1). A RESILIENT MEMBER (4) SUCH AS A TORSION SPRING IS ATTACHED TO THE BELT (1) AND TO AT LEAST ONE CLAMPING FINGER (2) SO AS TO URGE THE FREE END (3) OF THE CLAMPING FINGER (2) AGAINST THE BELT (1), WHEREBY STRIP SHAPED ELEMENTS MAY BE GRIPPED BETWEEN THE BELT (1) AND THE FREE END (3) OF THE CLAMPING FINGER (2).
