AN IMPROVED MOLD LOCK (100) IS DISCLOSED WHICH IS PARTICULARLY ADAPTED FOR USE WITH PLASTIC INJECTION MOLDS, AND IN WHICH THE LOCK INCLUDES ONE OR MORE TUMBLERS (24, 26) WHICH ARE ENGAGED BY ONE OR MORE LOCKING BOLTS (28, 30). IN ONE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT, THE LOCK (100) FURTHER INCLUDES A SAFETY DEVICE (32, 34) FOR PREVENTING ACCIDENTAL LOCKING AND UNLOCKING OF THE LOCK OR THE ACCIDENTAL MOVING OF THE MOLD PLATES (202, 204, 206) OUT OF SEQUENCE. WHEN USED IN COMBINATION WITH A PLASTIC MOLDING MACHINE, THE LOCK (100) PREVENTS THE ACCIDENTAL OPENING OR CLOSING OF MOLD PLATES (202, 204, 206) WHEN OPERATING IN A TANDEM OR NON-TANDEM MODE.
