Abstract
The present invention relates to a biopsy track ablation device and method thereof. The biopsy track ablation device generally includes a) an introducer (12,13) having an elongate body (14) which terminates at a distal end portion (16), said distal end portion (16) has a tapered edge (20), and opposite end of the introducer (12,13) is an open end provided with an axially extending notch (17); b) a biopsy needle (22) having an elongated body (24) which terminates at a tapered distal end portion (26), a tray (36) is provided to sever the tissue, and opposite end of the biopsy needle (22) is partially received by a handle (28); characterized in that, the biopsy track ablation device includes: a heating element (30) selectively provided at introducer (12), track ablation needle (60), or a guiding means (70), such that said introducer (12), track ablation needle (60), or a guiding means (70) is energized by the heat element (30) as to their respective distal end portion (16, 64) is instantaneously heated to a temperature sufficient to cauterize biopsy track, wherein the heating element (30) serves to conduct heat to an outer cannula of the distal end portion (16, 64) of the introducer (12), track ablation needle (60), or a guiding means (70).
