AN AIR CONDITIONER INCLUDES A HORIZONTALLY DRIVEN HUMAN BODY DETECTING SENSOR (7) MOUNTED ON AN INDOOR UNIT (1), AND HAS A SCANNING MODE, IN WHICH THE HUMAN BODY DETECTING SENSOR (7) IS DRIVEN HORIZONTALLY TO DETERMINE A HEAT SOURCE, AND A FIXED MODE IN WHICH THE HUMAN BODY DETECTING SENSOR (7) IS FIXED TO DETERMINE A HUMAN BODY. THE FIXED MODE IS EXECUTED AFTER THE SCANNING MODE HAS BEEN EXECUTED. THE AIR CONDITIONER OF THIS CONSTRUCTION CAN IDENTIFY THE POSITION OF A HUMAN BODY USING ONE OR FEW HUMAN BODY DETECTING SENSORS (7) WITHOUT ERRONEOUSLY DETECTING A HEAT SOURCE OTHER THAN THE HUMAN BODY, THUS MAKING IT POSSIBLE TO ENHANCE COMFORT IN A ROOM.
