Abstract

The present invention relates to a micropump (1000) having a modular architecture. The micropump comprises an actuator module (1100), a base module (1200), and a diffuser module (1300). The actuator module (1100) is stacked on top of the base module (1200) while the diffuser module (1300) is placed in between the actuator module (1100) and the base module (1200). The diffuser module (1300) is replaceable as the diffuser module (1300) is not bonded to the actuator module (1100) or the base module (1200). During actuation state, a plunger (1121) of the actuator module (1100) is extended downwardly to contact a membrane (1350) of the diffuser module (1300) and thereon, pushes the membrane (1350) to create a contraction stroke that expels fluid from a pump chamber (1311). When the plunger (1121) is retracted, the membrane (1350) returns to a tense free manner which consequently drawing fluid into the pump chamber (1311). The most illustrative drawing:
