Abstract
A connecting rod (1) according to the present invention includes a rod main part (10); a small end part (20) provided at an end of the rod main part (10); and a large end part (30) provided at another end of the rod main part (10). The connecting rod (10) according to the present invention is formed of an iron alloy; and is carbonitriding-treated or carburizing- and nitriding-treated. A carbon content at a depth of 0.1 mm from an inner circumferential surface (30a) of the large end part (30) is 0.8 wt.% or greater and 2.1 wt.% or less. A nitrogen content at a depth of 0.1 mm from the inner circumferential surface (30a) of the large end part (30) is 0.03 wt.% or greater and 0.19 wt.% or less.According to the present invention, a connecting rod which suppresses the occurrence of flaking at an inner circumferential surface of a large end part thereof and has a superb fatigue strength is provided.
