Abstract
To provide hardly breakable glass for a substrate, which is suitable for densification for a high recording density. Glass for a substrate, which comprises, as represented by mol% based on the following oxides, from66 to 77% of SiO2, from 7 to 17% of Al2O3, from 0 to 7% of B2O3, from 0 to 9% of Li2O from 0 to 8% of Na2O, form 0 to 3% of K2o, from o to 13% of MgO, form 0 to 6% of CaO, form o to 5% to TiO2 and from 0 to 5% of ZrO2,wherein the total of contents of SiO2, Al2O3 and B2O3 i.e. Si02+Al03+B203 is from 81 to 92%,the total of contents of Li2O,Na2O and K2O i.e LiO+Na2O+K2O is from 3 to 9%,the total of contents of MgO and CaO le MgO+CaO is from 4 to 13%,the total of contents of Na2O,K2O and CaO i.e Na2O+K2O+CaO is from O to 10%,and the total of contents of TiO2 and ZrO2 1e T1O2+ZrO2 is from 0 to 50%.
