THE PRESENT INVENTION RELATES A JACKING APPARATUS (10) FOR HOLDING AND POSITIONING A PLATFORM OF A JACK UP UNIT WITH RESPECT TO A SUPPORTING LEG OF THE JACK UP UNIT, COMPRISING: A PLURALITY OF FIRST CLAMPING UNITS (100A) DIRECTLY SECURED TO THE PLATFORM AND A PLURALITY OF SECOND CLAMPING UNITS (100B) THAT IS VERTICALLY CONNECTED TO THE PLURALITY OF FIRST CLAMPING UNITS (100A) BY MEANS OF A PLURALITY OF HYDRAULIC CYLINDERS (110) HAVING AN EXTENDABLE AND RETRACTABLE MEANS TO PROVIDE RELATIVE MOVEMENT BETWEEN THE PLURALITY OF FIRST AND SECOND CLAMPING UNITS (100A, 100B), AND THEREBY PERMITTING ELEVATION OR LOWERING OF THE PLATFORM WITH RESPECT TO THE SUPPORTING LEG.
