TORQUE SHEAR TAMPER-RESISTANT NUT (ABBREVIATED TSTR NUT) IS A TAMPER RESISTANT NUT WHICH SHALL BE PERMANENTLY FASTENED ONTO COUPLING BOLT ONCE IT HAS BEEN TIGHTENED TO A PRESCRIBED TORQUE. ONE END OF THE NUT, THE TAIL END (I), IS SO DESIGNED THAT IT SHALL SHEAR-OFF UNDER A SPECIFIC TIGHTENING STRENGTH. WITH THE TAIL END (I) SHEARED OFF, NO FURTHER TIGHTENING MAY BE APPLIED ONTO THE NUT; THUS ELIMINATES OVERLOADING OF BOLTED JOINT. A DETACHED SLEEVE (V), ROTATABLY ENCOMPASSES MAIN BODY OF THE NUT, PROVIDES THE TAMPER-RESISTANT MECHANISM WHERE ORDINARY HAND TOOLS CAN HARDLY REMOVE A WELL TIGHTENED TSTR NUT WITHOUT HAVING IT DAMAGED OR DESTROYED.
