Abstract

The invention relates to a refiner with at least one rotating refiner disc (9) and a refiner housing (2), where the refiner housing (2) has a tangential fibre outlet (3) and a device to control the pressure and the outflow of fibres. It is mainly characterised by a flap valve (11) being provided inside the housing (2). This flap valve separates the steam and fibre mix in such a way that only steam that is intermingled most intensively with the fibres is discharged. The largely fibre-free steam portion remains in the refiner, which is why approximately this amount of fresh steam can be saved compared with the systems used hitherto.
