Abstract
Provided is a water treatment with which an operation with markedly reduced heat and water losses due to blowdown compared with the case where softened water is used as feedwater can be realized without using any of a strong alkali, a strong acid, and a large amount of sodium chloride. Moreover, formation of Ca and Mg scale on a heating surface and formation of scale caused by iron brought from steam condensation water can be suppressed, and thereby the heating surface can be maintained clean. Provided is a water treatment method including, in steam-generating equipment in which steam condensation water is collected and reused as feedwater, without using a softening device (12), passing raw water through a liquid-passing-type electric double-layer capacitor desalting system (11,21) to produce treated water, supplying a steam-generating device with the treated water and the collected steam condensation water, which serve as feedwater, and adding a water-soluble polymer including a carboxyl group in its molecule to the feedwater.
