Abstract

A window stay includes a riveted friction pivot joint between a first element (102) and a second element (101). A rivet (104) passes through apertures in the first (102) and second elements (101). A first washer (105) is positioned between the inner side of the first element (102) and the inner side of the second element (101). A second washer (106) is positioned between the rivet head (107) and the outer side of the second element (101). The first washer (105) may reside at least partly within a recess formed in the first element (102). The second washer (106) may reside at least partly within a concave region formed in the underside (113) of the rivet head (107). The aperture in the second element (101) may form a cylindrical surface that bears against the rivet shaft (108) without the use of a washer between the cylindrical surface and the rivet shaft (108).
