Abstract

A protective jacket (100) for use by emergency service personnel includes a jacket body having a front jacket portion (102) and a back jacket portion (104) attached with fire resistant polymer foam (106), a number of pockets (108) attached to the jacket body, a fastening means (110) for securing the back jacket portion (104) of the jacket body and a securing belt (112) attached to the jacket body for securing the protective jacket (100) to the body of the emergency service personnel. The front jacket portion (102) and the back jacket portion (104) are made from fire resistant fabric. The fire resistant polymer foam (106) is attached to an inside surface of the front jacket portion (102) and the back jacket portion (104). The fire resistant polymer foam (106) covers the inside surface of the front jacket portion (102) and the back jacket portion (104) for providing safety and comfort to the wearer.
