Abstract

A disposable diaper (1A) has an absorbent member (4) in the center thereof straddling a rear portion (A) and a front portion (B) and a hydrophilic sheet assembly (7) in the waist flaps (6a) and (6b). The hydrophilic sheet assembly (7) has an inner hydrophilic sheet (71) and an outer hydrophilic sheet (72) on the garment-facing side of the inner hydrophilic sheet (71). The outer hydrophilic sheet (72) has higher liquid wicking ability than the inner hydrophilic sheet (71). The inner hydrophilic sheet (71) and the outer hydrophilic sheet (72) are disposed in a waist region (A1) containing a region spanning the edge (61) of the waist flap (6a) in the rear portion (A) and the end (41) of the absorbent member (4). The waist flap (6a) has gathers fanned by waist elastic members (8) bonded therein in their stretched state in the transverse direction of the disposable diaper (1A) (X direction).
