Abstract
The present invention is a fertilizer product and a method of producing the same. Particularly, the fertilizer product is in the form of blocks of compacted biomass having a density of 1 to 2 g/cm3 and compressive strength of 6 to 10 N/mm2. Further, the method of producing the fertilizer product comprises the steps of mixing oil palm empty fruit bunch, decanter cake and boiler ash from palm oil mill in a weight ratio of 40 to 80 : 20 to 80 : 5 to 30 to obtain a biomass mixture; degrading and fermenting the biomass mixture using microbes to obtain a black compost; adding macronutrient-containing compound, secondary macronutrient-containing compound and/or micronutrient-containing compound into the compost so as to adjust proportions of nutrients therein hence obtaining a fortified-compost; drying and sieving the fortified-compost into average particle size of 10 to 40 mesh sizes; and compacting the fortified-compost under a pressure of 2500 to 3500 psi at room temperature to obtain a block having an area of 5 to 2000 cm2 and thickness of 1 to 10 cm.
