Abstract

.An air conditioner that can be controlled by a gesture comprises a distance measurement sensor, DMS (101) for measuring distance when a line of sight of the DMS is blocked by the gesture and measuring the distance or detecting the gesture as a signal wherein subsequent distance is measured as a further signal. The air conditioner further comprises a microprocessor (201) for processing the signal and a LED for indicating the detection of the gesture and the recognition process. Based on the output signals produced by the DMS, the microprocessor will determine the correct signals. The correct signals will provide first and second instructions to switch on or off the air conditioner depending on its current operating state. Figure 1
