Abstract
A crusher for the crushing of plant materials, domestic and industrial waste. The crusher comprises a pair of spaced apart counter-rotatable shafts (20), the shafts having a non-circular cross-section. Each of the rotatable shafts has a plurality of crusher jigs (30) removably mounted on its outer face. Each jig has a generally planar base and a plurality of teeth (40) extending outward from the base arranged such that the teeth on the one shaft are interspatially disposed with the teeth on the other shaft to define a crushing nip therebetween. Each jig is provided with a system (60) for locking the jig onto the relevant shaft. The system comprises a locking formation (61) and a complementary locking formation (62). The locking and complementary locking formations are slidingly engageable with each other so as to bring the two into an interlocked condition. In use, material is received over the top of the shafts and is urged to move downwardly by the counter-rotating shafts through the crushing nip between the interspaced teeth where the material is crushed.
