Abstract

A method for producing carbon microparticles wherein kenaf can be used as a raw material to produce carbon microparticles from high-purity lignin. The carbon microparticles are produced through steps of: A) cooking kenafto produce a lignin- containing solution; B) collecting a lignin-containing substance from the resulting lignin-containing solution and removing salt from the lignin-containing substance; C) carbonizing the salt-removed lignin-containing substance; D) grinding a carbide produced; and E) subjecting the ground carbide to thermal plasma treatment to produce the carbon microparticles. After step E), it is preferable to further carry out a step of F) re-grinding the resulting carbon microparticles to produce nanoparticles.
