Abstract

The present invention provides a method of producing an estolide compound comprising the steps of: (a) exposing fatty acid to hydrogen peroxide to obtain polyhydroxy estolide; (b) esterifying the polyhydroxy estolide with an organic acid to obtain an end-capped derivative of polyhydroxy estolide; and (c) reacting the end- capped derivative with alcohol or amine to obtain the estolide compound.
