Abstract

The present invention describes a protective coating composition and a process for preparing said protective coating composition. The process comprises the steps of: i. melting bitumen at 150?C; ii. slowly adding a thermoplastic agent and a hardening agent to the melted bitumen with stirring until the mixture forms a homogeneous paste; and iii. adding crude oil waste sludge to the paste while reducing the reaction temperature to 100?C and maintaining the stirring until the final product is formed.
