Abstract
To achieve efficient trapping of foam and/or scum from discharged seawater with structurally simple equipment. [Solution] Provided is treatment equipment for trapping foam or scum floating on the surface of seawater in the seawater channel that receives seawater containing sulfur oxide. This treatment equipment is used for a flue gas desulfurization facility configured to cause sulfur oxide in exhaust gas to be absorbed into seawater for disposal of the sulfur oxide. An air lift device (30) includes an introducing channel (34) that has a dam (32) at the upper end thereof and is submerged in the seawater, the dam having an upper opening, a pumping channel (36) that is connected to the introducing channel (34) and spans from within the seawater to above the seawater surface, and an air-blowing means (38) that delivers air into the lower inner part of the pumping channel (36). The dam (32) is located in the flow of the seawater and the inflow opening (32A) of the dam is positioned substantially at the surface of the seawater to trap foam and scum floating on the seawater surface into the air lift device (30) from the inflow opening (32A) of the dam and to direct same to outside of the flow of the seawater via the pumping channel (36).
