The present invention relates to a controlled release herbal microsphere comprising a core material containing a decoction of Clinacanthus nutans having an active ingredient selected from polyphenolic compound and an encapsulating material comprising a mixture of kappa-carrageenan and sodium carboxymethylcellullose.
