Abstract

A structure (1) of a side portion of a vehicle body includes a suspension device stiffener (2) which connects, for support, a suspension device base portion (15) disposed at an upper portion of a wheel house inner member (13) with a vehicle body side wall portion (SP). The suspension device stiffener (2) includes a stiffener wall portion (3) extending vertically along the vehicle body side wall portion (SP), and a support portion (4) supporting the stiffener wall portion (3) and being joined with the suspension device base portion (15). The stiffener wall portion (3) has a U-shaped cross-sectional portion (31, 32, 33). The support portion (4) includes at least one of a front support portion (41) and a rear support portion (42). The U-shaped cross-sectional portion (31, 32, 33) is joined with the vehicle body side wall portion (SP) to form a closed cross-section. The lower end of the stiffener side wall portion (31) and the suspension device holding portion (15c) are spaced apart from one another to form an open space (5). With this structure, the vertical load from the suspension device is efficiently transmitted to and spread over the vehicle body side wall portion (SP).
