Abstract

The present invention relates to a composition containing an extract of Camellia sinensis, preferably an extract of a new cultivar of Camellia sinensis (Jangwon No. 3), and more particularly, to a composition containing, as an active ingredient, an extract of a new cultivar of Camellia sinensis having a high content of epigallocatechin 3-O-(3-Omethyl) gallate (EGC G3? Me; 3?-O-Me-EGCG). The composition containing, as an active ingredient, an extract of Camellia sinensis having a high content of epigallocatechin 3-O-(3- O-methyl) gallate according to the present invention has an antioxidant effect due to the elimination and suppression of free radicals, has an anti-aging effect on the skin due to having an excellent ability to inhibit the formation of collagenase, has an anti-inflammatory effect due to inhibiting the expression and secretion of inflammatory factors, such as prostaglandin and IL-8 and the like, in skin cells, has an excellent anticancer effect with respect to cancer cell lines derived from various tissues.
