Abstract

To provide a biomass semi-carbonization method and an apparatus therefor capable of obtaining a uniform semi-carbide, using biomass including wood, by controlling retainment of a blowing temperature to a product to be carbonized and a treatment time. A blowing pipe (4) for blowing hot air is inserted, in an axial direction, into a cylindrical rotary shell (1) that houses and rotationally drives a substance to be semi-carbonized (W), a number of branch pipes (4A) are branched from the blowing pipe (4), and the hot air with extremely small amount of combustion oxygen at a predetermined temperature within a range of 220C to 430C is blown against the swinging substance to be semi-carbonized (W) in the rotary shell (1) through the branch pipes (4A) under a negative pressure state.
