Abstract
A moisture content sensor (1) emits light toward an object (2) and detects a moisture content of the object (2) based on light reflected from the object (2). The sensor includes: a light transmitting unit (20) configured to project, toward the object (2), detection light including a first wavelength range absorbed by water at a rate higher than a predetermined value, and reference light including a second wavelength range absorbed by water at a rate lower than or equal to the predetermined value, while scanning the object; a first light receiving unit (33) configured to receive the detection light reflected by the object (2), and to convert the detection light received into a first electric signal; a second light receiving unit (43) configured to receive the reference light reflected by the object (2), and to convert the reference light received into a second electric signal; an arithmetic processing unit (56) configured to calculate a signal ratio of the first electric signal to the second electric signal; and a light source control unit (51) configured to control, based on the signal ratio, distribution of a plurality of detection positions (P) for detecting the signal ratio in a scan range (A) of the detection light and the reference light emitted through the light transmitting unit (20).
