Abstract

A vehicle count monitoring method used to monitor the number of vehicles in a rest area (500) on a highway (600) is provided. A first data obtaining device (310) is disposed in a first position (301) on the highway (600) to obtain a first vehicle data of a target vehicle (700) passing the first position (301 ). An entrance data obtaining device (100) is disposed at a rest area entrance (510) of the rest area. The first position (301) and the rest area entrance (510) are located respectively on the highway (600) in sequence along the normal driving direction (610) of the highway (600). The first data obtaining device (310) and the entrance data obtaining device (100) are connected to a processing device (400) in communication. The method comprising: an entrance data obtaining device (100) obtaining an entrance vehicle data of the target vehicle (700) passing the rest area entrance (51 0); a processing device (400) comparing the first vehicle data with the entrance vehicle data to determine whether the first vehicle data coincides with the entrance vehicle data; and the processing device (400) determining whether to increase the count of the number of vehicles in the rest area (500) by one judging from whether the first vehicle data coincides with the entrance vehicle data.
